As the Hare Krishna Community Centre in the western suburbs continues to progress from architectural and engineering drawings to steel and concrete reality, let us all ponder how special is our opportunity to help construct a wonderful home for Sri Krishna, where His devotees can serve Him. Owing to the dynamic growth of the congregation in the Sydney metro area, the North Sydney temple no longer can accommodate all the fortunate crowds wanting to attend. Moreover, the distance from the western suburbs to North Sydney is a lengthy drive, especially in the ever-increasing Sydney traffic. Sydney is big enough for several temples, and Krishna is unlimited. We now have the opportunity to do our share for a most glorious mission.

The new temple project, spearheaded with such determination by the ISKCON long-serving leader Vijaya Gopikesa Prabhu, is a most precious seva opportunity that rarely comes more than once in a lifetime—if at all. Enthusiastically grabbing the cintamani opportunity, let us unite for contributing our multifarious resources—prana, wealth, intelligence, and words—all for the glorification of Lord Krishna.

Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for attending the new temple fund raising dinner. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be with you this evening but hopefully I will come for the next one.

As you know, the beautiful temple of Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha in North Sydney has been operating for the last thirty years; however, it is now too small to accommodate the growing number of devotees in the greater Sydney area.

There is a need to have a bigger second temple and fortunately, by the grace of the Lord, we were able to purchase four acres of land at Vineyard.

These projects are very important, not only for the devotee community but for people in general. As Srila Prabhupada once said, “We are building temples and developing projects, they are not just buildings or structures. These projects are meant for helping you make spiritual advancement. These projects are meant to bring you closer to Krishna.”

There is also a nice quote in the Skanda Purana:
“Just by starting the construction of a temple for Lord Krishna, sins committed in seven births will be wiped out and one will deliver his forefathers who are suffering in the hellish planets.”

In conclusion I would like to say, may Sri Sri Radha and Krishna bless you for helping to build this temple and by Their mercy I am sure everything will be come out successful and perfect.

I am very encouraged and enthusiastic about the progress that has been made on Radha-Govinda’s new temple/community project.

Since I have been regularly visiting Sydney, I have been speaking about the urgent need to expand the spiritual facilities that available to the devotees in the area.

The community of devotee families has been expanding dramatically. Families with children require facilities for cultivating Krishna consciousness. An important part of this cultivation is developing a close-knit community. A variety of activities including temple worship, festivals, Krishna conscious social activities, education for children, drama workshops, and dance classes is required to accomplish this.

This is a very exciting project which will benefit the lives of all those who participate.

I request the readers of this letter to help please Radha Govinda by contributing generously. Radha Govinda will shower Their unlimited blessings upon anyone who helps.
